When you want to freshen up a room, what do you usually do? You might think about updating your furniture, or even just moving it around. We recently swapped our dining table and sofa and it completely altered the vibe. The other thing you can do is rearrange your accessories or bring in some new plants or flowers. Dried flowers in particular are really popular right now for a quick update.
Personally, I think painting the walls is always a game changer and my first thought when it comes to refreshing a room. The other thing I like to do is introduce some new wall decor for a super quick update. What a difference some artwork, accessories, a shelf or mirror can make! When I crave a change, my go to place for wall inspiration is Desenio. Desenio is a Scandinavian brand, specialising in the most gorgeous, contemporary prints and frames.
They’re a favourite with many of my fellow bloggers, too as they cater so well for all the latest interior design trends. You know when you order a Desenio print, it is really current and will bring about an instant transformation. Being able to buy frames to fit the prints perfectly is another bonus. From simple slim white frames (as I chose recently) to black, copper and gold. Then on top of that, you have Desenio’s other great feature; their stylish ready-made gallery wall collections available to buy.
Creating a Gallery Wall
Gallery walls are enduringly popular and not as tricky to create as you may think. They work so well in both the home and office, so if you’ve ever fancied giving a gallery wall a go, but feel daunted about choosing complementary prints and displaying them in a cohesive way, don’t worry. Desenio take all of the stress from you by offering a clever gallery wall tool. But of course you can also use your creativity to mix and match your own arrangement and order whichever prints and sizes and frames to suit your taste.
You may have seen me feature Desenio before, with a gallery wall in my front room. I haven’t tired of the blues and copper frames at all, it still looks great.
However for this collaboration, I thought I’d have a go at creating my own arrangement. We have a very neutral palette in the back room of the house. It leads from what is now the dining space to an open plan conservatory, so I wanted a large print or two in front of the dining table and then a gallery wall in the conservatory above the sofa.
I was totally besotted by this painted arch no. 2 print – if you are into interiors in any way, you’ve probably noticed that arches and rainbows are having a moment in design. You can find this curvy design in mirrors, shelves, furniture and just about anything. So I loved this print straight off and of course the neutral colour is ideal – the background colour is practically the same as our wall! I decided that one large print on its own looked simple and elegant for the dining table area.
Next up, the gallery wall and I wanted to incorporate some of a new collection from Desenio featuring evocative photography prints, called Studio Azur. They are truly beautiful images and tap into the sunsoaked holiday island vibe, focusing on gorgeous beaches and fabulous textures, which remind us of happier times on our holidays!
As well as arches, you’ll notice recent fashionable wall decor and home accessories such as cushions feature simple line drawings, particularly of faces and bodies.
Another little arch print makes an appearance in the gallery wall, echoing the larger print in the other half of our space.
So there you have it, I’m really thrilled with this update to our walls. I can’t show you a wide angle of the room JUST YET, as we are waiting on a final addition arriving, but when it does I’ll be able to give you a full room shot. Keep an eye out for that!
In the meantime I’m delighted to share a reader offer from Desenio for you…
