Regular readers of #tidylife will have seen that we recently painted our living room in Farrow and Ball’s Stiffkey Blue. We already had our lovely new French Connection Zinc sofa from DFS in place, so the only thing missing seemed to be a few finishing touches.
I’m still debating what to do about window dressings in here, so I’ll tackle that in a future blog post, but for now I was keen to get some artwork on the walls asap.
I don’t know about you, but I sometimes find wall art quite difficult to buy. It’s not only knowing which prints to go for, but how to displaying them, too. You need to pick the right frames and work out how to arrange them on the wall.
I’ve seen some really lovely and eclectic groupings of wall art on Pinterest, other blogs and in magazines that inspire me, however I’m not always 100% confident about recreating a similar look at home.
That’s one of several reasons why I love Desenio.
Desenio AB is a Swedish-based company that offers a really trendy and varied range of posters, prints and frames. Not only are their prints super cool, capturing all the latest interior trends, they are top quality too – printed on 200g uncoated, FSC-certified and age resistant paper with a medium matt finish. If your order is over £29 you will get free delivery, also.
Desenio make choosing and displaying your art work very easy, with plenty of suggested layouts to create a picture wall and offering effortlessly co-ordinated groups of prints that work beautifully together. So you don’t have to rack your brains trying to decide what goes with what, you can choose from simple pairings to more elaborate picture wall arrangements.
It was this latter option that we went for when offered the chance to choose some prints and frames to showcase on the blog recently.
I loved many of the arrangements I saw and took a while deciding; in the end I thought something like this gallery wall layout would be perfect above our grey sofa, but using slightly different prints.
I ordered some in petrol blue that I thought would complement the wall colour nicely and chose copper frames, which look really lovely against dark blue with their warm metallic tone.
So a here’s a little ‘before and after’ to show you the difference our gallery wall has made to the living room:
What do you think? I am in love! Having the example layouts and print design ideas on the Desenio site was such a bonus when coming up with a picture wall idea.
We’ve got a few more fun prints that will be making an appearance in our kitchen ‘mini makeover’ coming soon (when we have created our trendy coffee shop counter area – watch this space!)
In the meantime, Desenio are kindly offering #tidylife readers the chance to shop at 25% off, valid on all posters (except for the handpicked category) from today, 28th February, until the 2nd March. To take advantage of this great offer you will need to add the code thisistidylife (all lower case letters) when you checkout. Shop for posters online here and frames online here.
With thanks to Desenio for this collaborative opportunity

Oh wow, they look so good. And the copper frames are beautiful against the blue. Actually, looking at your living room, it’s not too dissimilar to my own apart from the colour on the walls … safe sofa and cool prints from Desenio 🙂

Oh, Antonia, can we talk about your marble coffee table? <3 Where's it from? Having not used marble on the kitchen surfaces (to my chagrin) I am so tempted to get something marble for the front room…

Hi Rachel! Ah, thank you – I’ve had loads of compliments about that little table. It was from a store called PIB Home. Based in France but they do ship very reasonably to the UK! They are on Instagram and have loads of lovely quirky homeware on their website: pib-home.co.uk
