Although redecorating our living room is fun, it’s also a challenge with lots to do and decisions to make. It has made me realise just how much goes into a full room renovation when you are redesigning pretty much everything from top to bottom.
There are fixed features in the room I can’t change, such as the fireplace, and we won’t be replacing the sofa any time soon, however I will need to source some new things such as a rug, lighting, window dressings and potentially a new coffee table.
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I love shopping for homeware. However, as pleasant and inspiring a wander around a store can be, it’s true to say that the selection of products isn’t as wide as when it comes to browsing online. But online shopping is a double edged sword because yes, you get lots more choice, but at the same time that can be a bit overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you whittle down the options and settle on what you want?
This is the main reason why I loved learning about FAVI recently. FAVI is a handy furniture and homeware search engine that enables you to find exactly the things you are looking for. With multiple retailers on one site, you can shop loads of different interior brands and discover a huge range of furnishings, for both indoors and outdoors – as FAVI says, it’s everything in one place.
I definitely know that feeling of having too much choice when it comes to sourcing products. For me, one of the best ways to avoid being overwhelmed is to know exactly what you are shopping for and not be distracted by ‘nice things’. Creating a mood board for your room is a really good idea, too and doesn’t have to be too technical.
You could simply create a Pinterest board and pin all your ideas in the one place.
Or you can cut and stick ideas from magazines, placing them on a board to plan your room.
I like to use Canva which is a free app that enables me to put together ideas, as I have done here for our living room:
And the other thing you can do is head straight to FAVI to shop with intention and take advantage of the convenience of shopping from home, all under the one roof.
I have found it nice and easy to use, with features such as the ‘shop by room’ option and further filters to select your products depending on specifics, such as colour or material etc. I also like that you can see what selections other customers have favourited, or which items are new in.
