If you have a night out planned straight after work or simply don’t have time to do a full on party look, these cosmetics I bought recently are absolutely perfect to quickly enhance your daytime make-up, giving it a shimmery edge in next to no time.
Lips
What do you think of matte lipsticks? It has become a key look so I decided to give it a try with L’oreal Color Riche Ultra Matte in the shade ‘No Doubts’. Turns out it is a great nude lipstick for the daytime, the formulation is not drying; it is silky and creamy. The matte finish is quite long lasting, however at this time of year you definitely need some sparkle in my opinion!
So currently, if you spend £14 on L’Oreal products at Boots, you receive this gorgeous free gift: L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature Topper Rose Gold – it takes your lippy from day to night in one sweep, giving a gorgeous hint of sparkle to lips. (You could use it on cheeks and eyelids, too.)
Eyes
At Christmas, you want something sultry, smoky and sparkly for evening eyes, yes? Step forward No7 Stay Perfect Smoothing Eyeshadow in Pewter Shine.
This shimmery grey colour is easy to apply. Light and creamy, you can achieve a smoky look even if short on technical ability and time. If you have a neutral daytime eyelid colour on to start with, just apply this over the top. You don’t have to be precise, blend it with your finger and pop a little under the lower lashes too, smudging for a rock chick look. It has just the right balance of smoke and sparkle.
There’s another free gift to be had here, too, at Boots (at the time of writing this post). Buy two selected No. 7 cosmetics and receive a free gift set worth £36:
Next, add some false lashes. I’ve been using Eyelure natural No. 31 lashes, I actually picked them up in B&M, £4.99 for a set of 3 pairs. They’re really easy to apply and just nicely fill out your existing lashes. As a natural looking lash, they are quite understated, but you could opt for a more dramatic pair. I apply after I’ve done my eye make-up, including a coat of mascara. It literally takes a couple of minutes to stick them on. Top tip – they can prick the inner corner of your eyelid if the lash strip is a bit long for your eye, so just snip off the first few false lashes to shorten the row if required. I found that much more comfortable.
Nails
Finally, give your neutral or dark nail colour a new dimension with a clear top coat containing glitter. I picked one up from Wilko Essentials range which cost a tiny £1.69! And you can paint it quickly over your daytime nail colour for a bit of evening bling.
So that’s it; it really couldn’t be easier to take your make up from day to night this Christmas with these affordable and no-fuss items.
