You have always found faults in the way you look; that’s just your nature. There will always be someone who is more toned than you, taller than you or has better skin than you. You struggle to see the beauty in yourself most of the time, which can be very damaging to your mental health. This year you made a promise to yourself to love your body more, whether you want to get into running or you need to learn to cook healthier meals. There are so many ways in which you can get on a better path when it comes to your health. As soon as you become completely content in your own skin, you will feel so much happier about everything in your life.
Make a Commitment
When you make a promise to yourself or set a clear goal, it becomes so much easier to achieve. You need to hold yourself accountable and make a commitment to actually follow through with your fitness goals this year. Think about Everything You Need to Get Fit In the New Year and you will soon be able to make small and actionable goals. Another way in which you can truly commit, is by joining forces with someone else who has similar goals to you. You might have a friend, boyfriend or work colleague who is also keen to up their fitness game. You can hold each other accountable and make sure you don’t skip that all important gym session.
Eat Well
In order to be body confident you need to nourish your body from the inside. Eating well doesn’t mean starving yourself or only eating kale for the rest of your life. There are so many delicious and nutritious recipes out there that can help you to achieve peak performance and gain high energy. If you’re the type who always reaches for a sugary snack to deter that afternoon slump, then now is the time to change that habit. Fill your office drawer with healthy snacks such as fruit, nuts and natural oat bars. They will curb your cravings and help you to feel fuller for longer.
Hydrate
You have heard this a million times before, but you need to hydrate every single day. There is no use in drinking plenty of water for one day and then completely forgetting for the rest of the week. Buy yourself a cute water bottle and aim to fill it up at least three times throughout the day. Upping your water intake can be a challenge, especially when it’s not a regular habit of yourself. Use lemon, mint and other fresh fruit to make it taste more appealing.
Dress for Your Figure
When you dress to flatter your figure, you will instantly feel more body confident. Go out shopping with your best friend and experiment with some cute new styles. You might find that some outfits really work on you and others don’t. Make sure your buddy takes a picture of you in each outfit so that you can see for yourself which outfits you look amazing in!
Ignore Social Media Images
We all know how damaging social media can be for our mental health. If you’re the type of girl who is constantly scrolling on Instagram and comparing herself to a top influencer, then it needs to stop now. You need to realize that these images are not real in any sense. They are often photoshopped and filtered until the girl in the picture looks flawless. All you need to do is be authentic to yourself and you will always be much more body confident than the people you see on your screen. Give yourself a social media detox if you have found it difficult to ignore images like these recently. This type of exercise will help your mental health too.
Be Confident
Being confident is much easier said than done, especially when you have been torn down in the past. You can’t allow other people stop you from living your best life, so why let them get in the way? Being confident comes from inside you and is achievable through many mindset exercises. When you adapt your mindset and show other people that you believe in yourself, they will believe in you too! Being confident doesn’t have to equal arrogance. You can feel entirely confident in your own skin this year, by simple adapting your mindset and believing that you’re amazing just the way you are.
Tell Yourself That You’re Beautiful
You don’t need anyone to tell you you’re beautiful other than yourself. When you rely on other people to make you feel confident, this won’t be sustainable for the long run. Make sure that you always put yourself first and give yourself positive affirmations every single day. When you are able to see past your flaws and know your true beauty, you will start to feel confident in your body. Remember, nobody is perfect; don’t compare yourself to anybody else, just tell yourself that you’re beautiful every single morning when you open your eyes.
Smile
Loving your body isn’t just about looking amazing in your jeans or feeling completely flawless from head to toe. Being body confident includes every single element of yourself, including your smile. When you make the conscious effort to smile every single day you will instantly feel happier and more positive. We all know someone who always struggles to crack a smile, are they happy in their own skin? Probably not. Next time you’re feeling a little low or down in the dumps try to smile! It will instantly boost your mood and make you feel totally unstoppable.
As soon as you implement some of these changes, you will notice amazing results for yourself. Remember, it’s not about being the skinniest person or the most flawless female on Instagram; it’s about becoming the best possible version of yourself. All of this may sound very difficult to comprehend right now, but you will get there eventually. Stay true to yourself, believe in every possibility and you will soon feel healthier and self assured in your own skin.
