Your kitchen is one of the most important rooms in your house; it’s a common central point where you cook your family meals, make important decisions, you sit together etc. So why is it that we often overlook our floors? Surely we should pay attention to them, like we do to the latest kitchen gadgets and appliances, so we’ve picked out a few of our personal favourites flooring options to make it a bit easier for you.
Of course when choosing your floor, it comes down to personal choice so here are the practicality and durability aspects to consider. The patterns and colours are all down to you! Granted, there’s a lot to consider and the kitchen floor doesn’t have it easy – it’s expected to take spills and dirt whilst still giving off the appearance you desire, so it’s important to choose the right kind of material for the space you have, alongside the kind of lifestyle that you lead:
Natural stone
Stone comes in an array of styles and patterns, it truly is beautiful and it isn’t hard to see why it has become such a popular choice over recent years. From marble to travertine to slate, stone offers so much variation along with the all-important wow-factor! If you’re looking for something that is tough and easy to care for then look no further. Stone is also a good heat conductor and makes for a great accomplice for under floor heating, should you consider it.
Engineered wood
Mimicking their solid wood counterparts, engineered wood is pretty similar in looks but much easier to maintain. Due to the way they are manufactured engineered boards don’t expand or contract with different temperature/humidity levels, which makes them ideal for any kitchen. As they are coated with a sealant, this provides the board with a top layer that can be easily mopped and cleaned effectively.
Porcelain tiles
For an easy life, many people opt for porcelain tiles on their kitchen floor, the beauty of these tiles is that they come maintenance-free! They won’t need resealing or any aftercare once installed, just make sure you keep on top of cleaning them and the rest will follow. Porcelain is renowned for how hard wearing it is, in fact it has been said that they’re near on impossible to chip or scratch and we would have to agree. As well as being incredibly durable, porcelain is one of the most hygienic options for your kitchen as it can be cleaned so easy and any dirt/stains show up straight away.
Vinyl
Vinyl flooring is a great option if you’re working within a budget, it can replicate a variety of surfaces without the cost of them! It’s easy to clean and water-resistant, which makes it a perfect choice for the kitchen. As well as being quite robust, vinyl is also very comfortable under foot, which is great if you’re slaving over a big roast!
So, there you go, the best kind of flooring to have in your kitchen from the team over at Luxury Flooring!
