It’s the end of September and I’m feeling the urge to start layering up the home for cosy evenings in – it’s all about the knitted blankets, furry cushions and fleecy throws. I love to light some candles and hunker down, watching a good TV drama.
With any change of season, its the perfect opportunity for a home style update, so I was happy when Wayfair recently challenged me, along with 9 other home interior bloggers, to inject some lovely autumnal shades into our homes and bring added warmth and vibrancy, through key accent pieces to beat the autumn blues.
Wayfair predicts that teal, copper and orange will be big this autumn, so I had a browse through their webpages to see which products would help me perfectly capture those autumnal vibes.
I wanted our living room to feel relaxed and cosy, so chose a handy side table with a warm wood finish, a boho wall tapestry, a copper lamp and tealight, plus a teal throw and small organic style bowl.
The Alana side table is ideal to bridge the gap between our family room and conservatory. The grey sofa is where we sit and watch TV, so having a surface there is very handy for the remote control and a mug of tea! The style of it is quite scandi – it has a minimal black metal frame and a warm wood effect top.
Grey is a cool colour, so I’ve warmed up the sofa with my orange velvet cushions plus and the addition of a vibrant teal throw. It is super soft and surprisingly large for the price – I think we’ll be fighting over who gets to snuggle in it, frankly!
A tapestry wall hanging is something I’ve been hankering after for a quite a while and the Dori Macrame Wall Hanging lends a relaxed, boho feel and has a hint of orange to tap into the current colour trend. It’s a great way to add another layer to your room, too, softening a bare wall.
Copper touches are perfect this season to add warmth, such as this cute hammered copper tealight. The Talisman Table Lamp, although minimal in design, has copper and marble elements to elevate it from a purely functional piece to something much more stylish.
Fir cones are a great autumn accessory and I remembered I had some while I was styling these shots, so added a few to the little Raw Coupe bowl and they go together perfectly!
I feel its much more cosy now in this corner of my home for watching TV and relaxing on the sofa. Next, I just need to persuade my husband we need a woodburning stove to replace our old fire – wish me luck!
