If you fancy giving your living room an update for 2018, perhaps the biggest change you can make is by investing in a new sofa. So today I’ve picked out 5 of my favourite on-trend designs from luxury sofa emporium, Darlings of Chelsea. I’ve also suggested some wall colours and accessories you could team with them for the ultimate living room makeover that will have your friends and family envious:
Charnwood Love Seat
The adorable Charnwood Love Seat is ideal for two and comes in a variety of fabrics and colours. Meanwhile, the piping detail and buttoned back lends an extra air of plushness that will really elevate your living room.
The dimensions (140cm wide) make it the perfect size for you to cosy up with a partner; its proportions also make it ideal if you have a smaller living room as it will create a stunning centrepiece, without hogging all the space.
Personally, I adore the turquoise velvet upholstery shown above – so fresh and vibrant, giving your room a fashionable colour pop. If you like this colourway, too, it would look beautiful with a soft shell pink wall colour and brass accessories – try a circular gold and glass side table and don’t forget to add a few leafy plants.
Edward Leather Sofa
Next up is the stunning Edward Leather Sofa, shown here in Autumn Leaves Winter Pine (don’t you love that colour description?!).
At first glance, you may think this is another velvet sofa, but actually it is upholstered in a full grain leather. The sheen you can see is down to the addition of natural oils and the fact that during manufacture the hide is stretched, creating stunning highlights. Together with natural marks and scars in the leather, the result is a lovely, ‘lived in’ quality. If you want to transform your living room, especially as we move towards autumn in a few more weeks, then this is a key piece – and colour – to consider. The green is totally on trend and makes a refreshing alternative to the ever popular shades of brown leather, if you’re itching for a change. Meanwhile, the classic Chesterfield overtones are brought bang up to date by squared off arms and simple wooden feet. Craftsmanship at its finest! I would pair this beautiful sofa with a midnight blue wall and a cow hide rug for a truly eclectic, Instagram-worthy living room.
Babbington Small Sofa
Staying with the green theme (can you tell I’m a fan?), The Babbington is a more contemporary, classic sofa. Eminently livable, it’s simple style gives it a wide and timeless appeal. With deep, comfy seats pads that beckon you to sit, it’s incredibly inviting and tactile when upholstered in velvet as shown above. Or you could choose from other luxurious fabrics instead, including two toned weaves.
There are strong Scandinavian overtones to the design of this sofa and I would be inclined to style it with some classic mid-century furniture – think teak coffee tables and sideboards, with some cool retro prints, pottery and plants on top. I’d also add a neutral boho rug and macrame wall hanging for a relaxing vibe. If you prefer a bit more pattern and vibrancy to your room, though, why not tap into the botanical trend and team the Babbington sofa with a striking jungle leaf wallpaper – and perhaps even a piece of neon wall art for the ultimate ‘wow’ factor!
Kingley Sofa
Shown here in a beautiful hue (Shelly Winter White), if you appreciate elegant, contemporary furniture and interiors that are unfussy, the Kingley sofa is deserving of your attention. Generous in size, yet minimal in design, it manages to combine a cool aesthetic with comfort and luxury. The sleek metal legs and square chunky arms keep it looking super modern and fresh. I would love to see it paired with a pale oak herringbone parquet floor and dove grey walls and paintwork. Add in some blush cushions, an oversized round or leaning rectangular mirror plus a tall vase of flowers, and your living room would become the epitome of modern sophistication. As with the other sofas at Darlings of Chelsea, it comes in a range of sizes, leathers and colours so you can customise the Kingley sofa to suit your space and taste.
Alexi Sofa
What first drew me to the Alexi sofa was the colour; peach tones and millennial pinks are having a bit of a moment in interiors, you may have noticed. So the Bellagio 503 colourway is totally on point. However, look beyond the fashionable colour and you will also see a perfectly designed sofa with a very distinctive look. Straight arms that feature a fine piped edge give it a refined, contemporary appeal, while the buttoned sides and cushions add a cool retro edge. It won’t dominate a living room, but will effortlessly accentuate it.
This sofa would look gorgeous styled with a large fluffy sheepskin rug on the floor, a gold edged rectangular coffee table and a stunning art deco-inspired light pendant (think white frosted glass globes on elegant brassware). I would also be tempted to put a brass bar cart in my living room if I owned this sofa, so I could prepare pink pomegranate gin cocktails and sip them in style! Another feature to mention about the Alexi is the fact you can opt to have it as a sofa bed, which gives an extra bonus point.
So that’s a round up of my current top 5 favourite sofas from Darlings of Chelsea. Which one(s) do you prefer? Of course, there are many more stunning designs over on their website, so why not head over there next and start imagining your living room redefined for 2018? You can also pin this post for later:

What a great selection. Love the green leather sofa. Totally thought it was velvet though. My favourite is the Alexi though. What a lovely colour and a great shape.
