Hi Sue

It’s a dilemma for sure! But I imagine a tired, bespoke oak kitchen would be ideal for making over. I’ve seen lots of blog posts where it looks like a massive undertaking – taking the doors off, cleaning them with sugar soap, sanding them, priming and painting, sanding again between coats. Whereas the Ronseal product covered my lightly sanded pine wardrobe in one go and there weren’t really any visible brush marks (I just had to watch out for the odd run). The satin finish was nice and smooth. On the downside, it is stinky so you’ll need to be outside or at least well ventilated and wear a mask. Could you try a sample on a piece of similar wood maybe and prop it up in the kitchen to see if you like it? x

Ooh, that sounds exciting – and great blog material too! x

Sounds like that will be a big project and transformation, you can have fun planning it all in the meantime! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I’ve been having a constant “shall I, shan’t I?” dialogue about painting the kitchen cupboards. We inherited a bespoke oak kitchen which is looking tired, orange and watermarked. I can’t decide which method to go for, there’s so much advice out there. Would you recommend the Ronseal Cupboard Paint?

I will be taking on some of these ideas, thank you.

The difference being we need to rip it all out and start again! There will be no quick fix in our, inherited, kitchen and I can’t WAIT until we’ve enough cash to give it the make-over it deserves. It’s the one room in my home that hasn’t been touched yet! x
